I pushed the needle through,
Knitting something nice for you.
And I guess I always should.
My friend told me in a frantic text last week that she saw Aidan Knight at the Victoria ferry terminal. Maybe it was the week before. I can’t remember if she said hello. Since then I bought his solo album, Versicolour, and listened to it on a rainy drive home to the university. “Knitting Something Nice For You” is the third to last track, and begins with simple vocals and the sound of fingers sliding up metal guitar strings. The song sounds like a square dark room with a single dim lamp in a corner, beneath a wooden rocking chair. I remember the drive home that night, when this song came on as I slowed my car for a stop light along the main street of my small, dark town. It may have been raining. (Knitting Something Nice For You from Versicolour)
Look for Aidan Knight
